Rise and Shout

I am really excited about this new printable. The inspiration came to me this morning as I got things done (including making the famous BYU mint brownies with my mom…yum…), eagerly awaiting tonight’s big game against Texas. I saw my dad singing the Cougar fight song with my baby boy (who is dressed in his Cougar blues!), and I envisioned this fun print for my fellow BYU fans. My younger sister had her room decorated with BYU prints, and I thought this would have fit perfectly in her room.

Rise and shout! The Cougars are out!

Here is my attempt at a scriptural application for this non-religious print: There are many things that we need to “rise and shout” about in our lives. We need to rise and shout that our God sent His Son to the earth to atone for our sins. We can rise and shout because we are saved from spiritual death, and we can return to live with God again someday in families. We should rise and shout because miracles happen every day.

Let’s hope for a miracle for tonight’s game…we need it! 🙂

What is something you want to “rise and shout” about today?

Also, for any of my followers and readers who are interested, I have started a second website and Etsy shop called See Nikki Create. The purpose of the site is to have a place to share my printables that are customized for individuals, some printable requests by my friends or followers, or prints that don’t necessarily fit with the purpose of LDS Printables. Feel free to check it out, and look at the freebies and my Etsy shop. If you are interested in customized prints or invitations, be sure to email me through my See Nikki Create site.

This other BYU print below is available free on See Nikki Create here. Thanks again for all of your support, suggestions, and wonderful comments/emails!

Real Happiness, Time, and Talents

In 2007, President Thomas. S. Monson gave a talk to students at a Brigham Young University devotional (click here to read it). As I read through it, I kept finding more and more quotes that I thought were so important for my life. I picked two of them to share with you today, and encourage you to read his talk and tell me more of your favorite quotes from it.

The first one says, “To find real happiness, we must seek for it in a focus outside ourselves.” I have found this to be SO true in my life. The more self-centered I become, the less happy I become. When I seek for happiness by helping others, doing service, or sharing the gospel, I am the most happy I can be. My life right now is full of happiness, REAL happiness, and I feel like it is because I am doing my best to serve others and make them happy.

The next quote says, “…your time is valuable, your talents are many, and your future is bright.” Our time on this earth really is valuable, because we only have a short time to live, and the seasons of our lives change so quickly. God expects us to make the best out of our time here, not only to learn the gospel and live it to the fullest, but also to enjoy the blessings that the world has to offer. We are each endowed with amazing talents and ways that we can bless others, and we need to wisely use our time to build our talents. Our future is bright, regardless of our life situations, because Christ has atoned for our sins and provided us a path back to God, including a promise that our bodies will be resurrected and perfected. That is the brightest future I could imagine!

I needed these sweet reminders, and hope to remind my children of them frequently. I desire to seek happiness and use my time and talents to build the Church.

How have you found happiness in a focus outside yourself?

What other quotes did you love from President Monson’s talk?

BYU Football Love

I have another confession to make–I LOVE BYU FOOTBALL! I went to BYU-Idaho, not BYU, but I have always been a Cougar fan. My husband is a BYU student, so I feel like I am living the Cougar life vicariously through him.

In case you weren’t aware, BYU is owned by the LDS church and the school standards conform to the standards of the Church. According to the Princeton Review, BYU is the #1 “Stone-Cold Sober Campus” in the country. Hurrah for BYU! But you can bet that these sober BYU students can give any school a run for their money when it comes to pride for their team and team spirit.

I’m sure there are many of you who are not fans of BYU…that’s just fine. Friendly competition is always nice! The printables below are for fellow BYU fans who love the Cougar Fight Song and the beloved football team. I know they’re a little different than the normal printables I do on this site, but I couldn’t help myself.

Here are a few things you should know before kick-off tomorrow:

1. I drove by the stadium today and got the chills because I am so excited for football season.
2. I mayyyyy be making my own BYU shirt (white, of course, because we are doing a WHITE OUT game tomorrow) with the white printable below.
3. I’m going to be in AWESOME SEATS at the LaVell Edwards Stadium tomorrow, cheering on Riley Nelson and the whole BYU team!!!

What is your favorite part about football season?
