Belated General Conference Printables – April 2014

It can’t really be the end of June already…can it?? I had so many plans to get these General Conference quotes up during conference weekend. Sigh. Unfortunately, moving across the country with two toddlers consumed my life for the last few months! Oh well! Better late than never, right?

I am very grateful for living prophets and apostles who guide us in this crazy world that we live in. I trust that they have our best interests at heart, and I trust that they will approach the Lord to receive the teachings we need in our day and in our time. I know that God lives and that Christ is the head of the Church, and that He reveals His doctrine through the living prophet. I feel blessed to have been able to listen to conference and learn more about all of the things I should be doing better in my life, and to restore my hope and faith in my Savior and His plan for me and my family.

Here are some of my favorite quotes from the April 2014 LDS General Conference (in no particular order):

“Pure Christlike love flowing from true righteousness can change the world.”

“…you hold in your hands the happiness of more people than you can now imagine.”

(I’m hoping to post some more quotes soon…but don’t hold your breath. My memory is shot these days with my pregnant brain!)

What were some of your favorite quotes that I missed? I’d love your suggestions~!

Teach Me to Walk in the Light

There are SO many things I am learning as my children grow older. One thing my two-year-old daughter is teaching me is that she listens to EVERYTHING I say. Literally. She may not lead on that she can hear me, but she memorizes the things I say and do, and later, she does or says the same things. For example, I put her down for her nap and listened to her talk to herself for a little while. She said, among many other random things, “Bubble spaghetti? No, that’s not an option.” I have never heard her say, “That’s not an option,” but I say it to her often. I never thought she would pick up on that!

It made me wonder what else I am saying or doing that she is picking up on…

My 10-month-old son has recently started trying to fold his arms for prayers, which surprised us. We had never “taught” him to fold his arms, or even asked him to try. He watched, observed, and copied. This is another lesson to me.

A Children’s Songbook hymn that I love is “Teach Me to Walk in the Light” by Clara W. McMaster. The lyrics are so important, especially to anyone who could possibly be an example to a child or younger person.

Teach me to walk in the light of His love;

Teach me to pray to my Father above;
Teach me to know of the things that are right;
Teach me, teach me to walk in the light.

I hope that I am teaching my children to walk in the light of His love; I hope they are learning from my husband and I how to pray to and have a relationship with their Father above; I hope they are learning what is good and right from our examples. I am going to make a more conscious effort to say and do things that will teach my children how to follow their Father in Heaven.

What things have your children picked up on that you do?

Inspiration and Motivation – Sunday General Conference Quotes

After hearing such amazing talks during Saturday’s General Conference sessions (see the printables I created from them here! You won’t want to miss out!), I was ready for lots more inspiration and motivation on Sunday…and boy, did I receive it!

I am always drawn to Elder Uchtdorf’s talks. I feel like he understands the hearts of women in a very deep way, and that he speaks to my heart directly every time. He reminded me on Sunday that I need to draw nearer to God and seek out His light and truth. It doesn’t matter how lazy I have gotten, how un-spiritual I am at times, or how many mistakes I make–I can return to the light and become better than ever.

I also really loved the talk by Elder Enrique R. Falabella of the Seventy. He reminded me of things I can improve on as a mother and as the matriarch of my home. I appreciated the reminder to hug my children, make them happy, and be a good example of Christlike living. It was very good that he also reminded me to not be one who gets involved with contention, especially with my husband.

There were so many inspirational messages shared. We are so blessed to have a living prophet and apostles, and I hope I can remember and apply the things I learned.

Keep checking back for more General Conference printables! I’m still working on a bunch of messages from Sunday and Saturday!

What was your favorite talk given on Sunday? Why?
