Love Them Anyway

I hope you are having a beautiful Sabbath day!

A quote by Mother Theresa has been on my mind for some time now, and I thought I would share it with you in a free printable today, along with my thoughts:

“Do It Anyway”

People are often unreasonable,
illogical and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind,
people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful,
you will win some false friends and true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank,
people may cheat you;
Be honest anyway.
What you spend years building,
someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness,
they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today,
people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have,
and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis,
it is between you and God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

I think this poem is absolutely amazing. I have had so many situations in my life where I have had to just “do it anyway” and sometimes it’s actually really difficult! It seems really hard to do what we know is the right thing, the thing that God wants us to do, knowing that we may temporarily feel used, mocked, cheated, etc. As I have strived to “do it anyway” in the recent months, I have found great peace, despite what wordly trials have arisen from my efforts.

I believe God wants us to be happy. I know that He wants us to be happy. The gospel of Jesus Christ has been given to us so that we can find peace in this world and strive for perfection, no matter what the people around us may be doing.  I believe, like Mother Theresa, that the right answer in every situation is to “do it anyway” and follow through with the things we have been taught since Primary.

Have you ever faced a tough situation where you decided to “do it anyway?”
